If there’s one thing I’m learning this year it’s how faithful Jesus is. I’ve heard people say that “Jesus is faithful” my entire life but for the first time I feel like I’ve experienced it for myself in such a real and personal way. There were moments this year where I genuinely felt like more was being asked of me than I had the strength to carry. Moments where I didn’t know how to move forward, moments where the weight of everything felt overwhelming, and moments where all I could do was put one foot in front of the other. I’ve had people ask me how I’ve managed to keep going, and the truth is I’m not strong enough on my own. The only answer I have is Jesus. And I don’t say that as some typical Christian answer. I genuinely mean it when I say He has been my lifeline. And if you’ve ever walked through a really dark season you probably know exactly what I mean.

There have been moments where I’ve felt guilty because I haven’t had much left to give back to Him. Days where I’ve wanted to spend more time in my Bible, pray more, serve more, and show up better than I have. But through all of that I’ve learned that God’s love for me was never dependent on what I could bring to Him. I’ve learned so much about God’s character this year. Not because life has been easy but because it hasn’t. His grace has carried me through every hard day, every tear, every question, and every moment when I felt like I had nothing left to give. Looking back even now, I can see His faithfulness all over my life.

Over the past several months so many people have shared their own stories of loss, heartbreak, disappointment, and grief. And while I wish none of us knew this kind of pain, those conversations have reminded me how powerful it is when people choose to encourage, support, and pray for one another through difficult seasons. If you’re walking through something heavy right now I hope you know you’re not alone.

I wish some parts of this year had looked different. I would change certain things in a heartbeat if I could but since I can’t, I don’t want to waste them.
