Elon Musk had Jay Leno questioning the idea of a rocket powered car back in 2020.

He explained how the Tesla Roadster could hide a cold gas thruster behind its license plate, using highly compressed air to generate thrust without burning rocket fuel.

Yesterday on October 15th, Tesla revealed the next generation Roadster with SpaceX thrusters and a claimed 0 to 60 mph time of under one second for the Thrust version.

The thrusters release compressed gas to generate extra force, while the Rocket version is designed for aerial maneuvers. Production is targeted for 2028.
