Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday (October 15) inaugurated Northeast India’s first Visa Application Centre in Guwahati's Khanapara, bringing international visa application services closer to residents of Assam and other Northeastern states. Established by VFS Global, the centre is aimed at simplifying the visa application process and reducing the need for applicants to travel to major cities outside the region to access these services. The facility will initially facilitate visa applications for 14 countries, including Austria, the Czech Republic, Estonia, France, Italy, Latvia, Switzerland, Cyprus, Egypt, Ireland, Japan, United Kingdom, Malta and Morocco. The centre will also facilitate visa applications for Schengen nations. The centre is expected to benefit students planning to study abroad, tourists, business travellers and professionals by making visa application services more accessible within the Northeast. The inauguration marks a significant step in strengthening Guwahati’s role as a regional hub for international travel-related services. However, visa approval decisions will continue to rest with the respective countries’ authorised authorities. Tourism Minister Ajanta Neog, Transport Minister Charan Boro, Guwahati MP Bijuli Kalita Meddhi, Central Guwahati MLA Vijay Gupta and VFS Global’s chief executive officer for South Asia Yusmi Talwar attended the inauguration. Representatives of the diplomatic missions of Switzerland, the Czech Republic, Italy and France were also present. #Guwahati #VisaApplicationCentre #Assam #NortheastIndia

HISTORY FAVOURS THE UNHINGED (EVENTUALLY, AT LEAST). This is a convenient argument to make once you know which books became classics and which songs everybody knows by heart. But what do you do before any of that happens? An idea SHOULD be able to withstand interrogation. You can be wildly attached to something and still need to do serious work on it. SOME criticism makes the work better. But, some just carefully removes everything that might have made it yours. Some questions to consider: Is this difficult to understand because I haven’t expressed it well enough, or because I’m attempting something unfamiliar? Does the strange bit need cutting, or have I simply not worked out how to make it belong? Am I improving the idea, or making it easier to defend? Some more thoughts on interrogating your ideas before they reach the world ON OUR NEW SUBSTACK: **Provocations by Creative Living**. The first essay is where we’re taking this idea further: the creative decisions, the inconvenient details, and the much harder business of recognising where good judgement has become obedience. Some photographers see a puddle and walk around it. Others see a puddle and immediately reach for their camera. And then there’s @barrybouquet, who’s practically turned photographing watches in puddles into an art form! 💦🤣 I’ve always loved Barry’s signature puddle shots, so I thought it was about time I gave it a go myself. Of course, zaddied pictures were never going to be quite as peaceful as those on Barry’s feed. My version comes with a little more wilderness, a little more chaos, and two little tornadoes running around in the background. 🌪️😂 Same inspiration, different madness! 🤪 So here’s my little homage to Barry and his wonderful photography. Thanks for the inspiration, mate! ❤️ #barryspuddleshots #gshock #casio #watchphotography #watchfam
