Is it too late to share the pictures/videos from my solo trip to Italy in October 2024 aka the trip of a lifetime? 👀👀 Don’t ask me why I took so long, I over thought it and then never posted them 😂
This trip was more than just a trip for me, it was me proving to myself that I’m stronger than my fears. It was me proving to myself that I don’t need to wait for anybody to live my life the way I want to.
This was my first time out of the North/South American/Caribbean region, and I did it solo. If you know me, you know that flying has been something I’ve struggled with for a very long time. Although I do it if I have to, to go back home and visit family, doing it willingly just to enjoy a place was relatively unheard of for me. It’s been a terrifying experience for me to say the least. But after more than a year of intense struggles with anxiety (with flying and other things as well), I finally felt strong enough to do it.
Once I checked in for the flight, I was like “Omg what have I done, I can’t turn back now. I’m about to take an 8 hour flight by myself, help me Jesus 😂.” But I did it and on the other side of fear was an experience that I’ll never forget.
The Amalfi Coast has been on my must see places list for a while and it didn’t disappoint. It literally felt like being in a movie. When I did the boat tour of Capri and the Sorrento coast, it was so beautiful that I literally said to myself, I’ve seen what I need to see, I can go home now 😂
I knew once I was ready to conquer my fear, Italy was the first place I would go. It was absolutely breathtaking and witnessing it only unlocked a deeper desire to want to travel and experience more places and cultures.
Some of the scriptures that I kept close to my heart when fear started to creep in were:
“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” - 2 Timothy 1:7
“Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.” - 1 Peter 5:7
I can’t wait to see what else is on the other side of fear.
This post captures my time in Sorrento, Capri and Amalfi Coast, Italy. I also visited Rome which will be covered in part 2 😌
