Devoted husband to Thelma , favorite son in law to Martha , loving father to six wonderful children and Granddaddy to the rest of us . My grandfather was a man of few words and walked everywhere in this city until he couldn’t with his hat tipped to the side . Deacon Martinez , a true man of god that would always offer you a meal when you came to the house . Preferred meager meals but enjoyed the many holiday feasts he blessed through the years . The family and legacy you created will continue to flourish and we only hope to be as great as you . Thank you for creating us . RIP Granddad, kiss grandma and nanny for us .
