After World War II, he started a tractor manufacturing company — Lamborghini Trattori (1948) — using surplus military equipment.

In 1963, after a famous disagreement with Enzo Ferrari about car quality, Ferruccio decided to build his own luxury sports cars to rival Ferrari.
