The #UK government is introducing new laws that will make certain types of p*rnography illegal to possess or publish in #England and Wales beginning November 6, 2026. The banned material includes porn depicting strangulation or suffocation, incest or simulated incest, and adults portraying themselves as children under 16. The changes follow a 2025 independent review led by Conservative peer Baroness Gabby Bertin, which concluded that choking and other violent s*xual content had become widespread online and could contribute to harmful behavior becoming normalized, particularly among younger people. The rules can also cover realistic AI-generated images if the people depicted appear real. People caught possessing prohibited strangulation or incest p*rnography could face up to two years in prison, while possession of p*rnography portraying someone as under 16 can carry a maximum sentence of three years. The government is warning anyone who currently has or has uploaded affected material to permanently delete or remove it before November 6. (📸: @gettyimages)
