fun fact inside almost every cell of your body is DNA containing an enormous amount of biological information. If the DNA from a single human cell were stretched out, it would be roughly two meters long, despite being packed into a nucleus only a few micrometers across. It accomplishes this through an elaborate hierarchy of folding and organization involving proteins such as histones. But having DNA doesn't mean every gene is active at once. Different cells use different subsets of the genome. A neuron and a muscle cell can contain essentially the same genome while behaving completely differently because different genes are expressed at different levels. This is one of the fundamental reasons your body can produce dozens of specialized cell types from essentially the same genetic blueprint. The genome isn't simply a static instruction manual sitting untouched inside the nucleus. It is constantly being read, copied, regulated, repaired, packaged, unpackaged, and chemically modified. Some regions are active, others are quiet, and the pattern changes depending on the cell and its circumstances. Your cells carry the same enormous library, but each type of cell opens completely different books. 🧬

Big three 🤝 in three.
