Sitting Queer II.I

ongoing series
cotton, silk, wool

11 yards

I was awarded a grant that allowed me the opportunity to attend @praxisfiberworkshop in Cleveland, Ohio this past Fall to further my work with the TC2 loom and continue to weave an ongoing series of tin types of my queer friends.

I have been traveling to all of the places that I’ve lived, setting up dark rooms in the closets or hallways of friend’s houses and documenting them in their outdoor spaces. The only constant throughout the journey, with changing spaces, temperature, and lighting, are these bodies,- - a documentation of queerness in all their glory, an image showing up slowly on a wet plate, reliant on the existence of my communities and their persistence to continue to exist. Through the process of weaving, instead of an image existing on the surface, these images have been rebuilt thread by thread, made whole, made sculptural.
