STRENGTH RESERVE: One of my favourite topics from my conversation with the JEDI GRANDMASTER OF NEUROSCIENCE @hubermanlab was the concept of STRENGTH RESERVE! 🎙️ Full discussion with Dr Andrew Huberman on Huberman Lab (link in story!) The principle is simple: the stronger you are, the smaller the percentage of your maximum strength required for each swimming stroke. So, theoretically, increasing your weighted pull-up strength could make thousands of repeated strokes relatively less demanding! 🔬 THE SCIENCE: 🇳🇴 Norwegian University of Science and Technology (Aspenes et al., 2009): Found that 11 weeks of combined strength and endurance training improved swimming pulling force and 400m performance. 🇳🇴 Nord University (Fone & van den Tillaar, 2022): A systematic review of 27 studies found that combining strength training with swimming generally improved performance, with gains of approximately 2–2.5% across training methods. Of course, strength must be combined with technique and endurance, but the research supports a simple principle: DON’T JUST TRAIN TO SWIM MORE. TRAIN TO GET STRONGER TOO! 💪
STOP THE GENOCIDE “Tends of thousands of Palestinians are being slaughtered, and our government is actively facilitating this genocide.” Hundreds of people are being arrested outside the US Embassy in London for opposing the Trumpian ban on Palestine Action, just days before the Supreme Court hearing on the proscription. Day one at Australia’s newest international airport, and Goji was already on the case 🐶🍌 The biosecurity detector dog and his handler, Katie, were working at Western Sydney International (Nancy-Bird Walton) Airport on October 26, 2026, the first day international passengers arrived. Goji sniffed out undeclared bananas and pistachios in a traveler’s luggage, making the airport’s first-ever detector dog interception. The airport, Australia’s first brand-new greenfield commercial airport in more than 50 years, opened to international travelers that day with a flight from Auckland, and six detector dog teams were on duty from the start. Good boy, Goji 🏆 Media: @australianbiosecurity
