Being an immigrant is a constant mind fuck. I am the first person in my entire family to have moved to the US as a toddler, gone to school here, and attained all of the systemic struggles and benefits of living in the west, while also knowing very well I’ll never actually “belong” here. I went to a concert 2 weeks ago and a yt woman stood right by me and said, “are you ill3gal?” 😒🥊

Then I go back home to the 🇵🇭 and it’s almost an entirely different experience — Everyone looks like me. I get to experience non-capitalist community care. I feel rooted and at home in ways I have never experienced in the US. I explain racism by yt people to my cousins, always hoping deep down they’ll never have to experience it. But it’s also a giant reckoning because it is VERY obvious that you unjustly benefit from colonial empire.

All of that to say, learning about my Filipino culture & de-colonial spirituality is so important for me. I found out about @ugnayancards during my last trip home, and it feels like a tool for connecting to that liminal, in-between space — whether you’re Filipino or not, check them out & DM them to order!❤️‍🔥

Edit: 96 questions (not cards)!

Thank you for sharing! Buying now and will amplify. As someone whose Filipino heritage wasn't a part of my life with a pupa who was 1000% about assimilation, finding these threads makes my heart soar. Thank you!❤️🔥✊️

love these & seeing how the ancient, lineage-based codes are being remembered through lived experience....so much of what you’re sharing feels like transmissions reactivating across time & reminders that our roots + ancestral wisdom are still alive in us...grateful for all of these ancient threads weaving back into the present ✨️

Thanks for sharing Ugnayan 🤍and also your experience as an immigrant @kimsaira. I can’t imagine what it must feel like to live in that state of worry, fear, discrimination and disconnection in the US. I also appreciate your recognition of privileges from the colonial empire too (and I suppose speaking to that is a whole other post!). At the same time, while racism is less felt here, there’s still disconnection and an othering that is often felt here — whether by class, religion/ethics, political leanings, etc. — and in some cases, some very real threats to safety and survival. The cards are a modest response to that, with a hope that when we return to connection with ourselves and each other, slowly, we plant seeds of collective care that can flourish into a forest of solidarity. Glad you connected with us. ❤️‍🔥🌱🌳

Thank you for sharing this, @kimsaira! Hoping it brings you more and deeper connections with your self, your kapwa and the motherland. 🇵🇭 And that they remind you and those you play with that we are all interconnected as fellow beings in this world — no matter what race, country or creed. ❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥
