The mother, Nivedya, gave a statement saying that she wanted to build a career in modelling, wanted to pursue further studies and
live an independent life, but felt that her children were preventing her from achieving these aspirations.

She killed her children because she thought it would hinder her from doing so.

She also said that she could not achieve her dreams because she had to look after the children. However, the police have not fully believed her claims.

The children, identified as Jennifer Juliet (5) and Robin Christopher (3), were found dead in a water tank inside the bathroom of their rented home on September 29, 2026. Initially, the deaths were suspected to be accidental.

However, after doubts were raised about the circumstances, police questioned the mother, who allegedly confessed to drowning both children.

Reports indicate that family disputes and other issues are being considered as part of the investigation.

The accused was arrested and remanded to judicial custody. The investigation is ongoing.

The deaths of two innocent children have left their family and the community devastated. The case also raises painful questions about child safety and the responsibility adults have towards the children who depend on them.

The Oregonian reported that Maria Torres, then 71, filed a historic $36 million lawsuit against the Fred Meyer supermarket chain after a severe slip-and-fall incident on October 9, 2023, at the Hawthorne store in Southeast Portland. While shopping for groceries, Torres slipped on a puddle of water that had accumulated on the floor due to a leaky ceiling beneath the store’s above-ground parking deck. The fall resulted in a three-day hospitalization and a serious concussion, causing long-term health complications such as traumatic brain injury, chronic headaches, tinnitus, and balance issues that eventually forced her to leave her job and rely on a walker or wheelchair.
Torres’s legal team sought $6 million in compensatory damages and $27.5 million in punitive damages, arguing that the supermarket chain had negligibly ignored a decades-old, recurring roof leak problem that routinely placed thousands of weekly shoppers at risk. In response, Fred Meyer denied liability by characterizing the leak as an emergent issue that developed too quickly for employees to clean up before the accident occurred, while also disputing the severity of Torres’s ongoing injuries. The case went to trial in Multnomah County Circuit Court in October 2026, but both parties reached an undisclosed, confidential settlement on the sixth day of the proceedings, concluding the litigation.
