“For years now, pop music has been suffused with a vague, or coded, malaise,” Amanda Petrusich writes. “It’s increasingly evident that everyone feels dread and anxiety about the apparent grimness of the world, though they stop short from saying too much about the particulars..” For Fontaines D.C., a young and brainy rock band from Dublin, with post-punk, New Wave, and electronica influences, private existential terror takes center stage. On their fifth album, “Dopamine Chamber,” the quintet wrestles with how to seek pleasure while remaining hyperaware of the devastations of the world. Their “particular pairing—viciousness and smarts—feels scarce these days, when the world’s most powerful institutions seem to prefer that we be anodyne and dumb,” Petrusich writes. Honoured and grateful to the Gurha Counselling Cell and the people of Samba District, where it all began for all the warmth and traditional welcome. Sharing my journey with these young minds reminded me that roots and ambition grow best together and that every big dream starts with a brave first step. Keep learning, keep leading. Let’s keep building a brighter future together. Jai Hind 🇮🇳
TNHT Staff: @YesThatsDee _________________ Neighbors, new heartbreaking details have emerged about the death of Hassan Kariem, who fell from the Goliath roller coaster at Six Flags Over Georgia while celebrating a birthday with his family. _________________ According to Atlanta News First, Kariem was riding alongside his niece when the tragedy occurred. His brother-in-law, Joshua Nelson, revealed that Kariem’s final words were, “This is my favorite ride, I’m so excited to be here.” _________________ Nelson said his daughter witnessed Kariem lift from his seat while the ride was moving, before the safety restraint came undone. _________________ After getting off the ride, the young girl called her father crying, telling him, “I don’t know where he went.” _________________ Kariem, who was remembered as a loving father and dedicated teacher, had visited the park with his wife, daughter and niece. _________________ State officials said the roller coaster was last inspected in March and showed no warning signs. The family is now awaiting the results of the investigation. _________________ Six Flags is reopening Friday, October 16, but the Goliath roller coaster will remain closed until further notice.
