What an epic journey to the East !
A lucky 3rd 🥉 in XTERRA Marunuma Japan !!!
In one of the most extremely technically demanding race course I’ve done.
Wasn’t in my best shape leading up to this race due to an ankle twist. But I was lucky to recover fast enough to be able to run alright on loose slippery stuff.
Even though we got to swim in a protected lake filled with trout n salmon, I screwed up from the cold (decided not to wear a wetsuit) took me 750m to get some sort of rhythm. 2nd half was nice n smooth 😮💨
Once on the bike, we were greeted with tight narrow single tracks surrounding the lake, plenty of technical steep climbs n descends. Some really needed pushing.
The bike was flawlessly working well, just missing a motor 🤣🤣
Just glad to stay rubber side down n no mishaps. N no bears chasing.
On the run, barely anything to let us take a breath, straight into offset loose rocks at the lake side, steep climbs that needed ropes, long stairways to heaven, mossy n messy rocks for descends, soft black mud n plenty of smiles n also bonk faces. Had the longest run in all my xterras. Got lost abit but lucky I was saved by my Coros Pace Pro again!
It was a maddd Epic course!!!
N to end up 3rd in category, just wow la. Like pulling a rabbit out of a hat 🐰🎩
Would like to thank you the team for the trainings, the planning, the priceless company n support. Without them I think this trip would have been just a dream.
So happy n grateful to be able to race in Japan with good friends, unforgettable place n moments. Also the kindness n politeness of ppl in Japan makes me wanna go back there again to race.
