🚵 Specialized STATUS 2 140

The STATUS 2 140 is essentially a playful, aggressive trail bike with serious all-mountain and bike-park ability. Specialized designed the STATUS around the idea that you shouldn’t have to own different bikes for trail riding, jumping, bike parks and messing around on local terrain.

The heart of it is the M5 alloy frame, 140mm of rear travel and a Horst-link suspension layout. It also gets a flip-chip that lets you switch between a higher, more responsive setup and a lower/slacker configuration for more aggressive riding. In the low setting, the head angle is around 64°, with a 77° seat angle.

🔥 The suspension is the real party trick

* Marzocchi Bomber Z1 140mm fork
* Marzocchi Bomber Air rear shock
* Ride Dynamics Trail Tune
* Low-speed rebound adjustment
* Two-position compression/sweep adjustment

🛑 Braking

The STATUS 2 140 comes with TRP Trail EVO four-piston brakes and huge 203mm rotors front and rear. That’s a pretty serious braking package for a 140mm trail bike and gives it the confidence to handle steep descents and bike-park abuse.

🛞 The mullet setup

This is where the bike gets particularly interesting.

The standard STATUS 2 140 uses a 29-inch front / 27.5-inch rear configuration, with Specialized Butcher tyres. The bigger front wheel helps it roll through rough terrain while the smaller rear keeps the bike playful and easier to throw around.

The STATUS 2 140 isn’t really trying to be the lightest bike, the prettiest bike or the most technologically exotic bike.

It’s a “just go ride the damn thing” bike.

And if the Specialized Status 2 is good enough for Szymon Godziek at the Red Bull Rampage 2026, then this bike is more than enough for you

2026 XTERRA Borneo Sarawak ✅

First race for this year!
Lucky to be on the podium again, despite many setbacks and disruptions in training this year.

So here’s the break down of the race:

Swim was choppy, water receded abit so had to run abit more, same as last year.
A day prior to the race everyone discovered washed up jelly fish, big ones. Some are as big as 20” roughly.
Luckily these ones don’t sting much at all 😅
Besides that managed to swim faster this year!

On the bike course it was almost similar, fast paced trail with a mix of technical stuff. Definitely slower than last year for me 🥲
Oh ya, it was getting hotttt af too !

This year run course change, no big climb huhu. Elevation gain was 200m only. Fast fast kinda run, avg hr was 179bpm for 1:07hr through mixed terrain and plenty of heat! Definitely less fitter than last year also.
Sad part was I lost P2 at the very last KM. Tried to runaway but cramps on both sides of my calves were trying to go full cramp. I just couldn’t….
Finished in P3 which was quite a blessing still.

Thank you to the crew at Xterra Borneo Sarawak
Congrats to all finishers, very happy to have made new friends and hope to see everyone again next year!
Best xterra especially for those looking to get into cross triathlon/duathlon!

Some fun introductions session to Mountain biking
For our 2 national triathletes !!
So awesome to have them come on board to have a lil taste of the trails!
We focused on body positioning for up n downhills, cornering, braking n some trail applications.
Solid stuff from these two !
Let’s go for a full fledged trail ride soon !!!

P1 for Kranky Cup Enduro Series Bukit Kiara !!!
Fantastic event organised by GoEnduro
Took me abit to get used to this style of riding, especially the jumps n much higher speeds with a much more downhill centric bike.
Thank you to Specialized Malaysia for the Enduro machine. So dem capable bike !
Event if it’s a multistage downhill race, we still had to climb so much. During all the SS, HR spiked closed to 190bpm while trying to handle all the rough stuff. So coordination, balance, accuracy n calmness is a big requirement under so much stress.
Will definitely return to more Enduro MTB races next year!!

Such an amazing journey seeing all the progression coming together.
Building good bike sense n balance bit by bit.
Finally we’re able to nail stopping the bike off the saddle.
Started from scratch not knowing how to balance to this.
Super stoked!! N more to come!
Patience & Persistence

King Of Mountain, Genting Highlands
Thank you Muse Events, Specialized Malaysia n Genting World Resorts for making this happen.

Not much of a break after racing Xterra Japan, so the goal was to finish well. So much anxiety before a race with wonky legs n uncertainty if making to the cut off was possible.
Luckily I’ve manage to finish well n alive.
Super tough climb as I remember climbing it 20yrs ago.
Brings back plenty of memories ascending the beast of the east.

Totally worth it to ride up Genting Highlands, any other day will be illegal to climb. We had full closure of the roads (very safe) n enough water stations. If you’re a cycling enthusiast, this Hors category climb should definitely be in your bucket list!

Hope there’ll be another next year!!
Now to take time to recover n enjoy ! by @jessenlee

What an epic journey to the East !
A lucky 3rd 🥉 in XTERRA Marunuma Japan !!!
In one of the most extremely technically demanding race course I’ve done.

Wasn’t in my best shape leading up to this race due to an ankle twist. But I was lucky to recover fast enough to be able to run alright on loose slippery stuff.

Even though we got to swim in a protected lake filled with trout n salmon, I screwed up from the cold (decided not to wear a wetsuit) took me 750m to get some sort of rhythm. 2nd half was nice n smooth 😮‍💨

Once on the bike, we were greeted with tight narrow single tracks surrounding the lake, plenty of technical steep climbs n descends. Some really needed pushing.
The bike was flawlessly working well, just missing a motor 🤣🤣
Just glad to stay rubber side down n no mishaps. N no bears chasing.

On the run, barely anything to let us take a breath, straight into offset loose rocks at the lake side, steep climbs that needed ropes, long stairways to heaven, mossy n messy rocks for descends, soft black mud n plenty of smiles n also bonk faces. Had the longest run in all my xterras. Got lost abit but lucky I was saved by my Coros Pace Pro again!
It was a maddd Epic course!!!
N to end up 3rd in category, just wow la. Like pulling a rabbit out of a hat 🐰🎩

Would like to thank you the team for the trainings, the planning, the priceless company n support. Without them I think this trip would have been just a dream.

So happy n grateful to be able to race in Japan with good friends, unforgettable place n moments. Also the kindness n politeness of ppl in Japan makes me wanna go back there again to race.
Thank you @xterra.japan
Till the next epic one in a few days (KOM Genting Highlands) 😅😅

10 Aug 2025 - what a memorable day for the Siuyuk Buddies to be competing with many Pros during the race and despite being a first for most of the team members, we pulled through with P8/P10.

Great fun and experience for all of us. Many thanks to Deena for supporting us during the session too! 🥰

Congratulations to podium winners! ✨
