کانر میچالک، پسربچه ۸ ساله‌ای بود که با نوعی سرطان تهاجمی مغز مبارزه می‌کرد. با وجود جراحی‌ها، شیمی‌درمانی و روزهای سخت بیمارستان، عشقش به کشتی‌کج و WWE هرگز کم‌رنگ نشد. او تنها یک آرزو داشت؛ اینکه روزی با قهرمان محبوبش، تریپل اچ، مبارزه کند. بنیاد «میک اِ ویش» (Make-A-Wish) این آرزو را با کمک WWE به واقعیت تبدیل کرد. کانر به مرکز تمرینی WWE دعوت شد و علاوه بر دیدار با ستاره‌هایی مانند جان سینا، دنیل برایان و رندی اورتن، روی رینگ هم مقابل تریپل اچ قرار گرفت. در آن مسابقه نمادین، تریپل اچ خودش را شکست‌خورده نشان داد و در پایان، دست کانر را به‌عنوان برنده بالا برد؛ لحظه‌ای که به یکی از احساسی‌ترین صحنه‌های تاریخ WWE تبدیل شد. اما این خوشحالی تنها یک ماه دوام داشت. کانر در ۲۵ آوریل ۲۰۱۴ بر اثر پیشرفت بیماری درگذشت. داستان شجاعت او آن‌قدر تأثیرگذار بود که WWE برای زنده نگه داشتن یادش، جایزه سالانه «جایزه شجاعت کانر» را پایه‌گذاری کرد؛ جایزه‌ای که هر سال به افرادی با روحیه‌ای الهام‌بخش و مبارزه‌ای شجاعانه با سختی‌های زندگی اهدا می‌شود.
