This cute little parrotlet presented acutely lame on the right leg after falling from the kitchen counter-top. Our biggest concern was a broken bone so this nice owner allowed us to take x-rays.

We were able to confirm a complete oblique fracture of the right tibiotarsal bone. The owners did not wish to pursue specialist referral for internal and external fixation so we placed a stabilizing bandage with a splint to immobilize the proximal and distal fragments.

Let’s pray for this little one 🙏🏼. Will be rechecking the leg and x rays in 1 month to see if there is improvement 🦜

Side note: she was also born with a congenital anomaly where the left side of her body is slightly less developed compared to her right side. You can even appreciate the skeletal asymmetry on the x-rays!
