❤️ Side story about the man who just won World Series MVP, William Contreras.

One that makes you realize how much this moment means to him.

Back in June, I spoke with William about the devastating earthquakes in his home country of Venezuela.

He was emotional, heartbroken and struggling with the reality of being so far away from those who were suffering.

You have to imagine he’s carried some of that heartbreak with him through this season.

And when you think about what it must mean to go from winning the World Baseball Classic with his country to winning a World Series and earning MVP honors, all while knowing what people back home have been going through, it’s hard to comprehend the emotions behind this moment — so happy for him.

Sometimes the biggest victories mean so much more than what we see on the field. ❤️🇻🇪

That face card! We all are falling for 🫠❤️

He beat cancer. We just never imagined we’d still have to say goodbye. 💔

These last four months, we fought so hard for our baby. Through the diagnosis, amputation, clinical trial, recovery, and all the highs and lows in between. And he did it. Our boy beat cancer. The trial worked. We could breathe again..

We truly thought we had more time.

But after everything his body had endured, the weight and strain on his remaining legs became too much. And after fighting so hard to keep him here, we were faced with the most heartbreaking decision of our lives. Letting him rest when all we wanted was more time.

What makes me so incredibly proud is knowing his fight was bigger than us. Through his clinical trial, he contributed to research that may help other dogs and families facing the same diagnosis. Our boy left a legacy, and I hope one day another family gets the extra time we so desperately wished for.

But selfishly, I wanted more ordinary days. More moments like these. More of the love, comfort, and protection that he gave us so effortlessly.

The house feels painfully empty without him. I still look for him everywhere. I don’t think I’ll ever get used to a world where he’s not waiting for me.

My sweet boy, I would choose you a thousand times over. Every appointment, every sleepless night, every hard decision. You were worth all of it..

You took a part of me with you..and I will spend forever missing you. 💛#rottweiler #dogmom #dogsofinstagram #heartbreak
