✨Mollymauk WIP✨

His trousers are finally done! I was super excited to get started on these as soon as I got the idea into my head. His original pants had the right shape in the legs but I knew I wanted a new waistband and fastening.

The corset waistband was a fun challenge to work out. It didn’t need to be as complex and supportive as a corset, but I wanted it to be structured and a little shaping. Being able to lace it on both sides allows me to adjust the fit as I need.

I’ve also learned a lot about making my own patterned material over the years, and I knew that when I upgraded Molly he deserved that knowledge being applied. As painstaking as it is to sew each shape bit by bit, you can’t say the results aren’t worth it.

Some details! All of the eyelet holes are hand sewn, as are the button holes. I love how therapeutic the whole process is and I’m a big fan of the hand done look. The tail hole strap on the back is purely decorative, but I wanted it to look like a much more functional garment for someone who does sport a tail. The cuffs at the bottom of the trousers help to stop everything riding up, and allows me to play with a mismatched button look!

Next for Molly will be making him a new shirt and finishing off the embellishments on his coats🥰
