“I try to be bold with my interiors, but I couldn’t have imagined this.” Even designer Vikram Goyal was taken aback by the boldness of the Art Deco villa that lured him back to his childhood neighborhood in New Delhi. With its matcha-colored terrazzo staircase, soaring 12-foot ceilings, and striking proportions, Goyal quickly realized that the three-story stucco house had a tale of its own to tell.

When it came to the furnishings, Goyal—a self-described “craft revivalist” and creative director of @vikramgoyalstudio and @viyadesignofficial—cut loose, layering Gujarati mirrorwork, gold-and-bronze wall panels created in collaboration with de Gournay, and a lifetime’s worth of art, heirlooms, and globe-spanning finds. Among them are a curious set of chairs from his grandfather, newly dressed in yellow silk brocade woven in Benares. “I’m doing a lot of Indian storytelling these days,” Goyal muses. There’s an argument to be made that he always has.

Would you have taken a chance on this “before”? 🥹🏡 Swipe through before you decide!

About five years ago, I bought eight abandoned apartments in Minden, Louisiana, with a dream of giving them a second chance. Today, you can actually stay in the transformation. 💛

Meet our Laura Villa at The Villas at Spanish Court, a historic property dating back to 1931 that now welcomes guests for a cozy Louisiana getaway.

These before and after photos make the renovation look so simple. If only you could swipe through the actual work that quickly! 😂 Behind every finished space were countless decisions, some rookie mistakes, and a whole lot of determination.

But this is why I love historic preservation. We get to honor what came before us while making room for new memories. A place that once sat empty can become the setting for someone’s girls weekend, anniversary trip, or much needed small town escape.

If you love home renovation, vintage charm, and a stay with a story, Laura might just be your next getaway. ✨

This little corner of Minden was worth saving. I hope these photos remind you to look for the possibility in the places around you, too.

Comment BOOK and I’ll send you the link to The Bright Side of the Other Side to read more about this historic renovation, plus the link to book your stay and a discount code to use when you reserve! 💛
