BLAH-BLAH-BLAH PEAKED IN THE UK 40 YEARS AGO TODAY “I'm not the kind of guy who dresses like a king...” Released just over 40 years ago in the UK on Monday 29th September 1986, Iggy Pop’s Blah-Blah-Blah charted at its peak position of #43 on this day, 11th October. Produced by David Bowie and David Richards, it fared better in New Zealand and Switzerland where it was a top 20 release, and in Sweden it peaked at #3. The UK position was disappointing, considering both Iggy and Bowie fans would have been potential purchasers. The pair’s previous collaborations, The Idiot and Lust For Life, were top 30 albums in the UK in 1977. Six of the ten tracks on Blah-Blah-Blah were co-written with Bowie, though the biggest hit single from the album was a cover version: Real Wild Child (Wild One), which reached #10 and gave Iggy two Top Of The Pops’ appearances in January 1987. The only other performance on the show was Beside You in May 1994. These are the five singles in order of release: Cry for Love, Real Wild Child (Wild One), Shades, Fire Girl, and Isolation. Despite being blighted somewhat by the 80s production, it's actually a fine album, mainly due to the quality of the songs. Mention should be made of guitarist, ex-Sex Pistol Steve Jones, who also co-wrote three of the songs. If you’re not familiar with Blah-Blah-Blah, you really should give it a try. @_colonel_05 put on a shooting clinic against NYS, knocking down 9 THREE-POINTERS! 🎯💦
Yesterday wasn’t the result we were looking for, and that’s on me. At a track that’s difficult to overtake you need to try something different, and I chose a strategy that ultimately didn’t deliver. It’s a painful lesson to learn, but I take full responsibility for the decisions I made. In this sport, not every call will work out. It’s about accepting when you get it wrong and how you move forward. I’m grateful to the team for the work they put in every weekend. P6 doesn’t reflect the pace we had in the car, and despite the result there are positives to take away. Massive thanks to the fans in Singapore for the energy. I’ll continue to put the work in and come back fighting at the next race 🇸🇬✌🏾
