Vontae Davis (1988–2024) was an American cornerback who spent 10 NFL seasons with the Miami Dolphins, Indianapolis Colts, and Buffalo Bills. Drafted 25th overall by the Dolphins in 2009 out of Illinois, he played three seasons in Miami before a trade to Indianapolis, where he spent six. He was a two-time Pro Bowler and finished with 121 games played and 22 interceptions. He’s also remembered for his abrupt 2018 retirement at halftime of a Bills game, after which he said that years of injuries and surgeries had convinced him he shouldn’t be playing anymore. Davis was found dead at his South Florida home on April 1, 2024, at age 35, and police said no foul play was suspected. He was also the younger brother of former NFL tight end Vernon Davis. #edit #football #nfl
