I cannot build generational wealth but I will promise to fight to create ecological wealth in my lifetime. The idea of building generational wealth seemed to overbearing for my heart. To think that the financial wealth acquired in the capitalistic society would provide a sense of some security to my family and myself only led me to holes of despair in my life.
Maybe I won’t be able to afford a home in this economy, but I want to achieve is safety for not only for the continued wellness and existence of my family but for the interrelated of the whole; multi species of all living systems in Earth.
In one of my chapters for my book, Dear Environmentalist, I explore building ecological wealth as a standpoint that values the sacredness of spiritual, cultural, and religious wisdom. Ecological wealth adds true value to our understanding that as we begin to delve into the future that the dire need for a life able future isn’t about us but for our future generations. We are children of the Earth and we cannot abuse our parent.
I’ve begun to realize that ecological wealth is what has kept me in the long game in the environmental movement. It was mutual aid programs that kept me alive, my community became my lifeline just as I became theirs. Rocks, water m, fauna, flowers, fungi, stone, sand, and oil are not allowed to see their sacred wealth of living with species co existence and within a dominant class structure we attach a monetary values that sees it as a necessity over a living system that needs to be sustained for equilibriums.
