Do you own a boldly printed pair of socks showing off your favorite sports team, local biz, or pop culture icon?
Chances are those were made by Rock ‘Em.
@rockemsocks , which calls itself the world’s largest sock store, is a great example of how Orlando’s small businesses showcase our community’s creativity.
The Orlando-based company was started in 2011 by Rob Starkman when he was a student manager with the UCF men’s basketball team. Seeing the potential for players on the team to wear more than just plain white socks, he started dying socks in the sink of his dorm room. His unique designs, which even included the faces of team members, became popular on campus and a business idea was born.
Rock ‘Em now operates out of a 30,000-square facility, where its more than 20 employees design, create and ship socks around the country and the globe. Customers have more than 10,000 designs to choose from on the company’s website, with Orlando residents appreciating very hyperlocal odes to our city – like the MCO carpet socks.
Whether you rep your favorite team or local spots like Kelly’s Homemade Ice Cream, find your perfect pair at @rockemsocks
