The newly-named White House Press Secretary got off to a shaky start today. Katie Zacharia is a Pepperdine law graduate, and Trump has claimed she’s an attorney, but it’s not clear where she is licensed or where she passed the bar. Moments after her first press briefing, a reporter asked where she took the bar exam and Zacharia responded, “when I moved to China.” Zacharia and her husband, a COO for a Hollywood entertainment company, both lived in Beijing for a handful of years. We haven’t seen evidence of Zacharia being licensed to practice law anywhere in the U.S., and foreign nationals are not permitted to take China’s general legal qualification exams. Certainly a lot of questions… we’ll see if she gives some answers when she takes the podium next.
