$5 reasons why you should study astrophysics 🔭❤️ Not only were these factors affecting my decision to go into this field, but they are my motivation many times to keep going and sometimes stop to realize how beautiful it is what we are doing🥺 #astrophysics#astronomy#space#cosmos#science I think about this like a massive brick wall, and everyone that pushes the boundary of knowledge a bit further is adding something to that wall. Some people add a bit of cement, other people add a brick, other people add a full layer. But no matter your contribution, however small, it is part of this wall of knowledge. The work we are doing now would not happen without the contributions of the millions of astronomers and scientists before us that built those foundations. The sky has united people for millennia, from people that used the night sky for predictions, for timings, for navigation, to people classifying stars, comets and planets, to using mathematics to study celestial events, to first looking at the sky through a telescope, to the kind of work that we are doing now, using simulations and computers to enhance our knowledge. It truly is astonishing how far we have come! You can develop so many skills! You are not pidgeonholing yourself by choosing astrophysics. Depending on your interests and what you choose to focus on, some skills you can develop can include (but are not limited to): - coding - mathematics - software engineering - experimental physics - optics, electronics.. - observational skills - working under pressure - communication skills - collaboration Think about it. The data you are using is either really new data, or data you requested to observe yourself. And if it is data that lots of people have seen, you are likely the first person studying it in the way you are doing. You may be using novel techniques or perhaps you are looking into things other have overlooked. In any case, you are the first person in humanity to do what you are doing. And the universe is so vast, options are literally infinite! Where else would you find a place where matter is sped up to speeds a significant fraction of the speed of light? Or find places where light cannot esc$
