This weekend I’ll be taking part in IWATAYA “Life with Art 2025 Autumn” in Fukuoka, Japan — a cultural program where the historic department store hosts exhibitions, performances, and citywide events that connect people with art in everyday life.
IWATAYA has long been known for presenting cultural events that blend contemporary art with music, design, and the rhythms of city life. This year’s program is linked with Music City Tenjin and Art Fair Asia Fukuoka, creating a space where art and culture overlap in ways that feel both everyday and extraordinary.
My contribution features large-scale paintings rooted in the story of commerce — exploring how physical retail, signage, and space are transformed in the digital age.
And for those in Fukuoka — I’ll also be live-painting September 27 & 28 at IWATAYA’s Main Building on the ground level, and showing new paintings in the 7th Floor Event Hall.
