Never. fucking. quit. You could be one step from winning, but you’ll never see it if you stop.
I’ve climbed plenty of 14ers, from Kelso Ridge: a brutal route up Torreys Peak, to knocking out three summits in 36 hours while running down every descent. But La Plata Peak challenged me to the core. Sick from a moldy CamelBak, running on two hours of sleep, exhausted and drained, I almost quit so many different times, a couple just steps from the summit. The mountain broke us, but it never beat us, because we never fucking quit. (catch me howling with the coyotes at the end)
