5 years cancer free!
this is an overwhelmingly emotional & celebratory day in my cancer journey that seemed so far away for so long. the past few months has brought a lot of reflection & discovery of the impact this experience has had on me. I’m truly overcome with gratitude & joy & appreciation, amongst all the complicated feelings of being a cancer survivor.
for anyone who has ever offered their love and support and prayers in these last 5 years, thank you. my parents & brother, friends, family, loved ones, mentors, teachers, other cancer patients, my doctors, especially in the Children’s oncology unit, my physical therapist, my therapist, my chiropractor, LLS, Red Cross, and truly anyone who has helped support youth cancer patients, thank you so much. for anyone who donates blood, money for research, or supports patients in their lives, thank you.
from finishing treatment, fundraising for LLS, graduation, college experiences & study abroad, and now senior year of college, my greatest love and appreciation goes towards the community of support I’ve been fortunate enough to receive.
little side note: I took this first pic on the day of my 5year appointment! yay first tattoo in honor of rainbows during treatment, blood draws with clear results, & a “f*ck cancer” bracelet. :)
I am also bursting with excitement at the upcoming blood drive planned (officially) for December 17th at the Graduate Hotel on the UMN campus! the signup link is live in my bio & I am so happy to have this opportunity to foster and support our community. donating blood makes a huge difference not just for cancer patients, but in the lives of many, and is always in need. create community! help patients!
