Victoria is a brutal place to be an unborn child. Both Labor and the Liberals have teamed up to make it even worse. No prolife or Christian can vote for them now. Both major parties must be placed at the bottom of the ballot alongside the other pro-abortion parties: Greens, Teals and Animal Justice. Yesterday's announcements by @bencarrollmp and @jesswilsonmp was absolutely disgraceful: agreeing to further the slaughter off preborn Victorian children as a cynical political tactic to win votes. 📣Share this post. We must expose these vile baby killers and deny them power on Nov 28, it's the only language they understand. #human #humanrights #victoria #springstreet
UPDATE: Nominations are now CLOSED for our October Elevate Prize GET LOUD Award: Democracy Defenders! Together with @kerrywashington and her production company @simpsonstreet - Executive Producers of our upcoming docuseries Nevertheless: Democracy Defenders - we’re looking for organizations, in the U.S. and abroad, working to protect, strengthen, and reimagine democracy. As we see every day in the news, freedom isn’t guaranteed. It survives because people choose to defend it: by showing up, speaking out, and holding power accountable, even when silence would be easier. That’s why this month we’re awarding $25,000 to one nonprofit defending democracy, whether through voter education and access, civic engagement, government transparency and accountability, press freedom, or the rights and institutions that hold it all together.  👇Comment below and tag an organization, anywhere in the world, doing the work to make sure democracy stays strong - and belongs to everyone. 🗓️Nominations close Friday, October 16. To qualify, organizations must be a 501(c)(3), fiscally sponsored, or a public charity with annual revenue under $1M USD.

🕯️⛪ Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart – Laudate Dominum, from the Vesperae solennes de confessore, K. 339 Aksel Rykkvin – boy soprano voice 🎤 Oslo Domkor and IRIS kammerorkester – Vivianne Sydnes • The name de confessore, which appears in the title of these vespers, was added to the score later, by another hand, and the saint it refers to may never have existed. Mozart composed the work in 1780 for the cathedral of Salzburg, where he was court organist to Archbishop Colloredo. Mozart had come back from Paris to take the post, and his dissatisfaction with Salzburg went on without easing. In the fifth movement, the Laudate Dominum, he gave the soprano a much simpler solo: the one in the vespers of the year before was florid. It is this movement that is often sung on its own, apart from the whole work. The following year, Mozart broke with the archbishop and was dismissed. • Listen again and notice what happens after the camera closes in on the singer's face, with a blurred candle beside it: the sound, which had been strong, fades gradually over several seconds, until it is very faint, and only then does the voice rise in volume again. • Aksel Rykkvin was born in Oslo and, before this night, had recorded his first album, in London, with the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, funded by a crowdfunding campaign. According to the video description, the performance brought together the Oslo Domkor, the choir of Oslo Cathedral, and the IRIS kammerorkester, conducted by Vivianne Sydnes, at one of the free Christmas concerts at the cathedral, in December 2016. Right after the camera passes over the orchestra's musicians, it pulls back and Aksel appears in the distance, standing, with his hands at his sides, in front of the altar and the stained-glass window. • 👉 Follow for the best of classical music daily on your feed. • #mozart #laudatedominum #akselrykkvin #classicalmusic
