Yesterday I got to listen to both Callie Hart and Jay Kristoff (author of Empire of the Vampire) discuss Callieโs success, inspiration, life and upcoming release (39 days until Brimstone!!).
This was my first โauthor talkโ and I loved every minute. Not only was the atmosphere so fun to be in, but I left feeling so inspired.
I did finish Quicksilver a few weeks ago and these were my initial honest thoughts:
* I was told by many that this book felt like โlots of other romantasy books thrown in togetherโ and I wouldnโt like it. I loved it. Couldnโt put it down. Yes, I will agree with the above statement BUT, lots of romantasy books take the same path and feel somewhat similar and if you were reading this as an opening to the romantasy world, I think itโs a great start.
* I love a moody morally grey MC, but I love the sarcastic, funny supporting characters just as much, give me more Carrion and Lorreth please!
* The spicy scenes were spot on but would have loved more slow burn banter. Hoping this is carried on through the next book, and there is some slow burn banter with supporting characters.
* I loved what Saeris became (will leave it at that, no spoilers!)
* More Onyx.
* I would have liked some more explanations on the fantasy aspects and the quicksilver (but I believe this is coming in book #2)
