POSTS STORIES REELS
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all my beautiful book nerds. This year I have been relatively quiet on this platform, and I haven’t made a plan for next year yet, but I am hoping for a more consistent posting schedule. In saying that, I do have some goals, ambitions and aspirations I want to achieve next year. So my main resolution for this platform is to enjoy my reads, ignore the pressure to read a certain amount of books and post what brings me joy. I hope you all have somewhat of a break from reality, enjoy your newest read, eat lots of food and bring yourself some peace. See you in the new year! by @_lostinstories
Mini reviews π‘©π’“π’Šπ’Žπ’”π’•π’π’π’† π’ƒπ’š π‘ͺπ’‚π’π’π’Šπ’† 𝑯𝒂𝒓𝒕: 3/5 Okay so this is a controversial opinion but I cannot place why I felt this story lacked. In one moment I was loving it, the next I wasn’t. I felt there was so much happening, yet at times I felt nothing was happening at all. I feel it’s hard to give a review to this without giving major spoilers, because there are things I loved and hated but both have explanations behind them. The only thing I’ll leave on this, is I strongly disliked the ending. I think that’s where most of my stars dropped off (IYKYK). In saying this, I will 100% be reading book #3 because I still liked the book… Make it make sense…. 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑾𝒓𝒂𝒕𝒉 𝒐𝒇 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑭𝒂𝒍𝒍𝒆𝒏 π’ƒπ’š π‘¨π’Žπ’ƒπ’†π’“ 𝑽. π‘΅π’Šπ’„π’π’π’†: 4.5/5 Firstly, the ending ROCKED me. The only real downfall I had for this book was there was no heartbreak moments throughout the book (not including the ending). I feel like there needed to be a big emotional punch throughout after 3 books. Secrets are being revealed and I’m eagerly waiting for book #5. Do we like these mini reviews? Or are we a fan of more in depth reviews? by @_lostinstories
What are your Christmas plans this year? We have pretty low key Christmas plans, lots of food, kid oriented, it’s usually hot for Christmas Day in Australia so it’s usually a dip in the pool to cool off and a new read (and some leftover dessert) for this Mumma to wind down at the end of the night 🀞 @literarycollectors have just launched their bookish wax melt collection and I am OBSESSED. They not only smell divine, they are super cute and a great idea for a stocking filler. There are six to choose from and are live now on the website. Happy shopping! SHANNON10 to save. by @_lostinstories
I’m semi back from my two month hiatus. I touched briefly on it in my stories, I had zero reason to be away, I just drowned myself in mum duties and enjoyed myself doing so. Let’s kick off my semi return with some honourable reads this year: . The Songbird and the Heart Stone by Carissa Broadbent β˜… β˜… β˜… β˜… β˜… . The Knight and the Moth by Rachel Gillig β˜… β˜… β˜… β˜… β˜… . One Dark Window by Rachel Gillig β˜… β˜… β˜… β˜… β˜… . The Book of Azrael by Amber V. Nicole β˜… β˜… β˜… β˜… β˜… . When the Moon Hatched by Sarah A. Parker β˜… β˜… β˜… β˜… . 5 I’ll be back in full swing next year as I have a little bit more free time, in the meantime I’ll post when I can. For now, please catch me up! What have I missed? What are you reading? What’s something that’s been going on in your life? How’s your writing? Let me know! It’s been too long. by @_lostinstories
Yesterday I got to listen to both Callie Hart and Jay Kristoff (author of Empire of the Vampire) discuss Callie’s success, inspiration, life and upcoming release (39 days until Brimstone!!). This was my first β€œauthor talk” and I loved every minute. Not only was the atmosphere so fun to be in, but I left feeling so inspired. I did finish Quicksilver a few weeks ago and these were my initial honest thoughts: * I was told by many that this book felt like β€œlots of other romantasy books thrown in together” and I wouldn’t like it. I loved it. Couldn’t put it down. Yes, I will agree with the above statement BUT, lots of romantasy books take the same path and feel somewhat similar and if you were reading this as an opening to the romantasy world, I think it’s a great start. * I love a moody morally grey MC, but I love the sarcastic, funny supporting characters just as much, give me more Carrion and Lorreth please! * The spicy scenes were spot on but would have loved more slow burn banter. Hoping this is carried on through the next book, and there is some slow burn banter with supporting characters. * I loved what Saeris became (will leave it at that, no spoilers!) * More Onyx. * I would have liked some more explanations on the fantasy aspects and the quicksilver (but I believe this is coming in book #2) * ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 by @_lostinstories
What are you currently reading? I’m about 40% of the way through The Throne of Broken Gods (Gods & Monsters #2). I wasn’t sure what I thought about this series, but am devouring through it now. Excited (and a little scared) to see how the story is going to unfold. β€’ Featuring some beautiful new bookish prints from @literarycollectors - already live on their website! You can use code SHANNON10 for a sneaky discount β€’ by @_lostinstories
Book haul: * Shield of Sparrows by Devney Perry * Sea of Ruin by Pam Godwin * The Never King by Nikki St. Crowe * Realm Breaker by Victoria Aveyard Not pictured * Phantasma by Kaylie Smith Have you read any of these? Which should I read next? by @_lostinstories
Book bedazzle party! πŸ’Ž Okay, this was SO much fun!!! If you haven’t done this, I highly recommend it. It was extremely satisfying and looks down right adorable on your shelf. I did this with a few of my girlfriends for my belated thirtieth and I think I’ll make it a regular thing. Such a fun bookish craft. Will post my finishing piece soon! #fourthwing by @_lostinstories
Dirty Thirty! πŸ₯‚ I have been absent from bookstagram for too long, we’ve battled our third bout of sickness this month but still managed to squeeze in an intimate pasta party with the family for my thirtieth today. Feeling very grateful πŸ₯° Now I’m off to read on my new kindle (thanks Mum!), drink some wine, and eat some leftover pasta. Happy reading this weekend! by @_lostinstories
Happy Friday Friends!! Life update: Wow! Mum life has been in full swing this month. We are currently completely the MSReadathon, and the kids have raised $333 to help fund support services for families living with Multiple Sclerosis and neurological conditions (proud Mum moment!), and we’ve celebrated our (great) Omas 100th birthday, on top of the usual hustle and bustle of life. Reading Update: I completed The Book of Azrael at the beginning of August and have just finished up The Fallen and the Kiss of Dusk by Carissa Broadbent (yep, only two books this month!). I haven’t decided on a set opinion on BOA yet, so hoping book #2 will help me settle my churning thoughts. I’ve also started Brigid Kemmerer’s newest novel, Warrior Princess Assassin - I’ve been so excited to get my hands on this one! Q. What are your plans the weekend? by @_lostinstories
