The drop spin pivot is one of the smoothest and most deceptive moves in basketball. Itโs all about using balance, control, and rhythm to create space โ not speed.
๐ก Advantages of Drop Spin Pivoting:
โข Builds elite footwork and body control under pressure
โข Keeps defenders guessing while you stay on balance
โข Opens up multiple options โ attack, step-through, or kick-out
โข Teaches players to slow the game down and read their defender
โข Translates perfectly into game-winning moments in tight spaces
๐ Whether youโre in the paint, on the perimeter, or breaking down your man off the bounce โ mastering the drop spin pivot separates good players from great ones.
๐ฅ Keep working on the details โ your foot placement, your base, your timing. When the spin feels effortless, thatโs when itโs dangerous.

This drill starts with the swipeโฆโฆ nothing wrong with learning a spin move! Middle schoolers and high schoolers, using this spin, move all over the country!!!

I was taught for school ball that itโs not the spin that encourages the travel, itโs when the ball is held and the pivot lifted. Instead itโs better to dribble once more, or avoid letting that pivot land.

The move is ๐ฅ๐ฅ but itโs a travel because their pivot foot leaves the floor before they make their first dribble. Keep it up though none of us is perfect ๐ซก
