A librarian in Darien, Connecticut, has been placed on administrative leave after a family alleged she ignored their 17-month-old Black son, Messiah, while interacting with White children during a puppet activity at Darien Commons on October 3. Messiah’s father, Micah Whitaker, posted a video of the encounter on TikTok, and it has since gone viral. He said the librarian put the puppet away at one point, then brought it back out to engage with other children as they began leaving. Darien Library has hired an independent law firm to investigate. The Norwalk NAACP is also reviewing the incident. According to the NAACP, the librarian initially said she had not noticed Messiah standing to the side. Ms. Rachel commented on the video, saying she would be honored to meet Messiah. — Videos: TikTok/ takethewillmike and ABC7
EMBODYING VENUS October 14, 2026 Los Angeles, CA Girls Night Out. Dinner with some baddies. Warm enough in LA to rock the skirt my sister crocheted! She is incredibly talented. Isn’t it everything?! Paired it with a cashmere tank, my go to writing sweater and my new earrings from Paris. If you ask nicely, I can persuade her to make you one too. S/O to @kerry_maloufmakeup and @goochnchrg for the elegant glam. UPDATE: My sister the ninja with the needle and thread said she would make some skirts: @kbustos329 InTheLandOf… MARA
