BTS for Microfictions, a new commission by @himalisinghsoin @davidsointappeser for Vessel’s first major collaboration with the Fremantle Biennale.
There’s been a bit going on the past few weeks— new track lighting, blockout blinds, projection mapping, AV chats, tackling a fear of heights, camel hair, favours from mates, sand, gold, cuttlefish, installing film and spotlights, building benches and a whole lotta life thrown in!
No doubt a few learning curves but an absolute joy to be working with such good humans on this timely and powerful presentation 💚

‘Tapping into planetary turbulence, Microfictions is a poetic and sonic meditation on weight — what anchors us — and lightness — what defies gravity and how we drift.
Accompanied by a score for upright bass, electric harp and percussion, recalling the tectonic rhythms and rumbles of the Earth, Microfictions traverses oceans, continents and hemispheres imagining futures of intermingling cultures and languages, ecological entanglements and human-nonhuman dependencies. This is a powerful call to the intimacy of deep memory and land both as displacement and reconciliation’
