The U.S. military has developed strike plans that include potentially using the GBU-43B Massive Ordnance Air Blast (MOAB) bomb, known as the “mother of all bombs,” against Iranian energy infrastructure and nuclear sites, according to multiple U.S. officials who spoke to CNN. It would be the first use of the weapon in the Iran war. No order has been given and the plans are options should President Trump order combat to resume, before or after the midterms. The MOAB is the largest non-nuclear bomb in the U.S. arsenal. It weighs 21,600 pounds, is GPS guided and explodes above ground for a wide blast. One source said Trump ordered strike packages including “a lot of energy infrastructure” and a potential MOAB, worded as coming “prior to US retrograde in CENTCOM AOR,” a military term for withdrawing forces. A second source said plans for nuclear sites, including Pickaxe Mountain, explicitly call for it. CNN says the U.S. and Israel believe Iran stored nuclear program components there. The White House said it does not comment on sensitive military plans that “may or may not exist” and that Trump “keeps all options on the table.” The Pentagon said it plans for a wide range of scenarios. The U.S. last used the MOAB in 2017 against ISIS tunnels in Afghanistan. Afghan officials said it killed 36 fighters. This is me and my golf wife @rona_orr (a legend with her seven iron and one of the kindest and most incredible people I’ve ever met). It was the prize giving at my golf club last night and we won a trophy for being an excellent team in a competition. It’s been a year since a joined the club and I can honestly say it’s been the best year of my life in many ways. Before I started playing I had little to look forward to apart from work (and the unwavering love of my wife of course before anyone shouts at me). My friendships were all based around work, my value as a person was so intrinsically linked to what I did for a living that I became slightly unbalanced in my outlook. Now I’ve made friends who I spend hours laughing with on the course, who have nothing to do with television or comedy and who have, in short space of time, become closer to me than I could have believed. When people ask why I love the game it’s about more than handicaps or scores it’s about the people I’ve met. And all the women I’ve met playing golf at my club are some of the nicest I’ve ever encountered who have welcomed a slightly eccentric newcomer in with open arms. This photo is pure joy for me, because it’s a new me. Golf Susan is a happy Susan.
