“Sound, Ceramics and Communities”, winner of Italian Council 14, is a project promoted by Makramé APS and developed by the Amsterdam-based artistic duo Domenico Mangano & Marieke van Rooy, curated by Salvatore Lacagnina. The work weaves ceramic production, sound research and participatory practices.
Created in Caltagirone during the Bosco Colto Campus after an initial residency at @jatiwangiartfactory (ID), the project includes four ceramic sound sculptures, a costume and two textile photographs. It will be presented internationally at the @guldagergaard_claytopia (DK), at the @keramiekmuseum_princessehof (NL) and at the Kota Terrakota Triennale (ID).
A publication by @nero_editions will accompany the project, followed by a study day in collaboration with the @fondazionemenna
The work, produced during the 2026–2027 Campus editions, will enter the collection of the Museo d’Arte Contemporanea di Caltagirone in 2027 @cittadicaltagirone.
The project is supported by Creatività Contemporanea of the Italian Ministry of Culture - #MiC under the #ItalianCouncil program (2025).
