Project PIF fam <3
Just wanted to take a moment to express how grateful I am for every single person who has ever volunteered to serve meals, shared our initiatives on social media, and/or donated to our donation drives.
Project Pay It Forward started 10 years ago, right around this time, actually. Our very first event was a sock drive I put together after reading an article that said socks were the most requested but least donated item at homeless shelters. In true Sofi fashion, I combined two things I loved: helping people and watching football. I coordinated watch parties at local bars where people could drop off socks to be donated to the Los Angeles Mission.
That first year, we might have collected 75 pairs. By the time we held our last sock drive, we had collected over 6,000 pairs. I say all that to say: Project Pay It Forward started off as a group of friends who just wanted to make a small difference in their community. Fast forward 10 years later, and we’ve grown into a small but impactful group whose mission is to help fill in the gaps where they’re needed most.
I’m posting this screenshot from this morning’s conversation because it was a gentle reminder that while I may be at the forefront of these initiatives, it’s only through the generosity and collaboration of like-minded people that we are able to do such good for our commUNITY. Remember, we are all pieces of the puzzle when it comes to making a difference in this world. I can’t do what I do without you.
Thank you for you,
Sofi ♥️
