a year agoI’m glad you’re okay with the fire jokes because I’m trying not to laugh at how the TV literally peeled itself off, I wasn’t expecting that
a year agoI am incredibly proud of all of you - your husband, the kids and I'm so very proud of you. Because you carry something most of us have never experienced, and you get up everyday and try to make things work and you are impressive. I won't tell you "you're so strong" because when I've been told that, the case was I just had no other choice but to be strong. But character shows in difficulties and yours shines. You don't complain, you don't go blaming. You get up and do the work. That's a beautiful character.
a year ago🤍 we just lost everything two months ago when our U-Haul caught on fire and I related to all of this so so much. Prayers for you and your family as you continue to process everything and heal.
a year agoIf you are in need of any skincare items for you and your family please let us know! We would love to help out ❤️
a year agoAs someone who is just about to move back home from our house fire in March, I feel all of this! It sometimes doesn't feel real but what gets you through is everyone is safe and things are replaceable. This has made my family so much stronger with a better outlook on life. You'll never be able to fully give back to everyone that has helped you, but it should show how loved and cherished your family is that loved ones and strangers choose to help in someone's worst time
a year agoi’m so sorry you’re going thru this! i experienced a house fire in 2018 and it is truly remarkable how the process works! thankfully, smoke causes the majority of damage and the mess can sometimes appear more catastrophic because of the color, smells, extinguishing agents used, but i’m here to tell you - BE THERE EVERY STEP OF THE WAY!!!’ watch everything! be there when they start to toss items and decide what can be professionally ozoned and saved (it is soooo possible for much of your stuff to survive that you might have considered destroyed). contractors and insurance companies don’t care about your stuff - you need to be your own advocate! be a pest and be present… don’t let them leave anything unaccounted for! from the celery in your refrigerator to the furniture sliders on the bottom of a sofa - CHARGE YOUR INSURANCE FOR EVERYTHING!!!!! you’ll see what a blessing in disguise this can end up being! wishing you all the best! ❤️
a year agoI’m so sorry this happened for your family…and to have priceless irreplaceable items lost 💔
a year agoOh my heart 💔 I am so sorry. Sending you all my love. Let me know what you need.
a year agoWe were through this almost 5 years ago. It truly is the irreplaceable items that hurt the most. It does get easier eventually, but I’d be lying if I said there aren’t still bad days. Jokes help. Our go to was that we always wanted a skylight and now we had a big one.
a year agoOh my gosh. This would of been so scary but I am glad you and your family are safe. Sending loads of love
a year agoI’ve just started on bookstagram two days ago and this was at the top of my feed just now. When I was 6 (maybe I don’t really remember what age, and 36 now), I remember watching my house burn down with my little brother and my parents and the moments when we came back from where we’d been to realize it was our house. I remember staying in local condos while our house was being rebuilt and my parents making it seem almost like we were on a little getaway. I remember we had a wooden chair we were able to salvage. My parents took a picture of it before it was repaired and taped it under the seat after it was refinished. I remember crawling under it many times to see the picture of what it had looked like just after the fire. As I got older, and we moved around, I always checked under chairs for that picture to remember which one had made it through the fire. I’m realizing I’m not sure I’ve ever really talked to my parents about how they handled it. If it was super heavy for them, I don’t remember them showing it, or at least not letting it affect me or my brother. 30 years later, it’s not something I often think about, but the memory is there. I’m definitely extra careful around ashes and making sure flames are all the way out, though I’m already someone who has anxiety and OCD, so it just gets a bit amplified around those. Those pictures are so heartbreaking to see 💔 while things will look a little different in the house, the memories will always always be there ❤️ I am so so so sorry this happened!! I don’t really know you, but sending so many good, positive, and healing thoughts your way 💖
