Happy birthday to the one and only OBACHAN. 🎏
This woman is pure magic. No matter how long or short my visit is, she somehow resets my whole nervous system and sends me back into the world lighter, calmer, and wiser. She’s my best friend, my mentor, my biggest supporter & also the first one to tell me when I’m getting fat. 😂 Balance.
Every day with her teaches me something new. I’m endlessly grateful for our relationship and for the way she lives so unapologetically herself. She makes 84 look better than most 70-year-olds, and she’s more determined than anyone I know.
Kind, giving, compassionate… yet strong, direct, and absolutely unshakeable with her boundaries. She is everything I hope to become when I grow up.
I could write a whole book about how much I love her and the greatness she brings into this world, but she’d look at me and say “うるさい” (shut up).
If your grandparents are still around, go hug them. They’ve lived through things we can’t imagine and carry a type of wisdom you can’t Google. Even when they’re stuck in their traditional ways, they mean well. ❤️
