The Victim
Aarav — just 1.5 years old. Son of Rati Devi and Sumit, residents of Yadav Colony, Firozabad, UP.
The Background
Jitendra Pathak alias Viraj, 24, ran a grocery store in the same area. He was Sumit's cousin. Rati and Sumit had been living separately for some time. Pathak started helping Rati with her divorce proceedings — and somewhere along the way, developed romantic feelings for her.
He proposed marriage. She said no. He proposed again. She said no again. He couldn't accept it.

The Attack — May 30
Pathak came to Rati's home. In a fit of rage over her rejection, he picked up 1.5-year-old Aarav — and slammed him to the ground. Not once. Not twice. Eight times.
The whole thing was caught on CCTV.
Neighbours heard the commotion and rushed in. Aarav was immediately taken to hospital. Doctors declared him dead on arrival.

The Accused
Pathak fled after the attack. A murder case was registered under BNS Section 103(1). Police launched a manhunt.

The Arrest — May 31
Today, Pathak was tracked near Mainpuri Road. He was arrested after an exchange of fire with police and has been sent to judicial remand.
Why It's Exploding

CCTV footage of a grown man slamming a toddler 8 times. A mother who just wanted out of a marriage. A baby who paid the price for a man's ego. And it happened the same day as the Surya Chauhan encounter — UP is burning with outrage today.
