For personal and family reasons, I had to bring my season to an early end following this year’s Tour de France. I usually prefer to keep my private life away from the public eye, but this is something I feel is important to share. Losing my mum in September has changed the way I see life forever. You can spend so much of your life chasing goals, pushing your limits, measuring success in results, victories and achievements. But losing someone you love makes you realise how little of that truly matters in the end. Life is not about how much you achieve, how successful you become, or how many people know your name. It is about the people you love, the moments you share and the memories you create. Her love, her strength and everything she gave us will continue to live through the way we treat each other, the choices we make, and the lives we choose to lead. I wish more than anything that she was still here to share all the moments that are yet to come. But if losing her has taught me anything, it is t
