Ornamentation is a long-standing feature of Gregorian chant, before it was erased in the 19th century.

People from different parts of the country gathered at Delhi’s Ramlila Maidan on Sunday, November 1, ahead of the INDIA bloc’s mega rally against alleged “vote chori”. The gathering witnessed colourful scenes, with diverse groups arriving in distinctive attire, dancing, playing musical instruments, wearing masks and staging performances, adding a vibrant dimension to the political mobilisation.

The visuals reflect the diversity of participants who have travelled to the national capital to join the Opposition alliance’s campaign. Supporters from several states began arriving at the venue early in the morning, while party workers assembled at different locations across Delhi before proceeding towards Ramlila Maidan.

The rally is part of the INDIA bloc’s “Vote Bachao, Desh Bachao” campaign, which challenges alleged irregularities in electoral rolls and the Election Commission’s Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise. Opposition parties have accused the poll body of allowing eligible voters’ names to be removed from electoral lists and are demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. The Election Commission and the government have disputed allegations of political bias.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has called on students, farmers, workers, women, young people and traders to join the mobilisation. The programme includes a march from the Minto Road–Connaught Place junction towards Ramlila Maidan, followed by the rally. Leaders from multiple INDIA bloc parties are expected to participate.

Against this political backdrop, the gathering’s colourful costumes, music and performances have become a striking feature of the morning visuals, offering a glimpse of the varied groups joining the protest in the national capital.
