Today we celebrate the woman who raised two kids completely on her own and somehow still managed to be the glue that held everyone together. You’ve been through more personal battles than most people will ever understand, yet you’ve shown up every single day with a smile, a joke, or a “pull yourself together” look that works better than therapy.
You’ve carried so much on your shoulders, but you never let it stop you from being the mum that everyone needs just me and my brother but literally every one of my friends too. Honestly, half of them come to you for advice before they come to their own parents… and you never complain.
Despite everything you’ve gone through, you’ve given us a childhood full of love, laughs, and the kind of memories we’ll cherish forever. You taught us how to be strong without becoming cold, how to be soft without being walked over, and how to find the light even on days when it feels impossible.
You’ve been our rock, our fixer, our counsellor, our taxi driver, our chef, our shoulder to cry on and the person who can still make us laugh even when life is falling apart around us. I don’t know how you do it, but I’m endlessly grateful that you do.
You deserve every bit of happiness today. You deserve rest, joy, celebration and maybe a day where no one asks you for anything (don’t worry, I’ll try my best 😇).
