I’ve got my eye on you…

… or in this case, he has his eye on me! A lovely Mallard resting and dozing in a sheltered spot out of the wind this morning.

➡️ A female was resting near to him, probably his mate as pairing takes place in autumn, long before the breeding season. Although Mallards are generally monogamous, it is known that paired males will also try to mate with other females.
