Until Dec. 4, RRC Polytech’s Schroeder Institute for Entertainment and Media Arts is hosting the Canadian World Photographic Exhibition, a showcase of Team Canada’s entries in the World Photographic Cup.

The exhibit can be viewed in Mitakuye Oyasin Okciyape, the atrium of Manitou a bi Bii daziigae (319 Elgin Ave.) at the Exchange District Campus. Last Thursday’s launch event included a keynote presentation from Jocelyne Hebert, a Professional Photography instructor at RRC Polytech and the only Manitoban chosen to compete as part of Team Canada.

Thank you to my family, friends, students, mentors and fellow photography enthusiasts for coming and to celebrate Canadian photography with the opening reception of the @wpc_teamcanada exhibition. I was inspired by the beautiful images. I would love to hear how it inspired you? Please comment and share. The exhibition is only on display until December 4.

It feels like a lifetime ago, but it was only 3 years ago when it seemed like everything was falling apart. In the same year, I went through a divorce, packed my life in Dubai into boxes and traded my home for a storage unit. I unexpectedly had to shut down the company I co-founded and spent several years building, and nearly went bankrupt taking legal action against the business partner who caused it. That same year, I struggled through 4 rounds of egg freezing in a foreign country, and had also entered a relationship that was slowly breaking me down (which I eventually began to understand was abusive). I was severely burned out, my nervous system was in shambles, I had hit financial rock bottom, I was living out of a suitcase with an abusive partner and no support system, and I had no idea where I was going next with a career I had poured my whole self into. But what I didn’t know at the time was that life was paving a new road for me. Everything had to burn down before I could see that it was making room for something better. What came with the re-build was far more meant for me. Far more purposeful. Far more aligned. And gave me freedom and fulfillment I could only have dreamed of in that past life. The unfamiliar is so fucking scary. But trust it. Life guides you towards what is meant for you if you just allow it 💛 #trusttheuniverse #trusttheprocess #startingover #rebuild #divorce

A man lost his job after wearing a Halloween costume he called the “Jager-Bomber,” according to the claim accompanying a photo shared online. The outfit featured a vest fitted with Jägermeister bottles and Red Bull cans, a headscarf, and what appear to be prop guns. Its name was a play on the Jägerbomb drink. The costume raises questions about the line between Halloween humor and offensive stereotypes—and whether something worn outside work should have consequences at work.
