Run It Back: Fake TV Songs From Moesha, The Parkers and Sister Sister Have the Internet Feeling Nostalgic Blogged by: Cliff_hill A simple question on Threads has the culture deep in its feelings: what is your favorite fake TV song? The replies quickly turned into a full-blown nostalgia session, with fans pulling clips from Moesha, The Parkers, Sister Sister, The Jamie Foxx Show and even Dreamgirls. Fake TV songs are the tracks that only existed inside the show. A character enters a talent show, forms a group, records a demo or performs at a school event, and somehow the song sticks with you for 20 years. You couldn’t buy them on CD or request them on the radio. You just had to catch the episode again in reruns and hope your VCR was recording. When TV Was Appointment Viewing The ’90s and early 2000s were a golden era for Black sitcoms. UPN and The WB built entire nights around shows like Moesha, The Parkers, The Jamie Foxx Show and Sister Sister, and families planned their evenings around them. There was no streaming, no skipping ahead and no binge-watching. If you missed an episode, you heard about it at school the next day and waited for the rerun. Those shows didn’t just make you laugh. They let their stars show off everything they could do, and many of those stars could really sing. Brandy sang the Moesha theme song. Countess Vaughn sang the theme for The Parkers. Tia and Tamera Mowry sang their own Sister Sister theme. Jamie Foxx created “Here Comes Jamie Foxx” for his own show, where he played Jamie King, an aspiring singer and actor working at his family’s Los Angeles hotel. Music wasn’t an extra on these shows. It was part of the DNA. Why Fake TV Songs Hit Different Fake TV songs worked because they came from characters we felt like we knew. When a character finally got their shot at a talent show or a recording session, it felt like a win for someone in your own family. The songs were often a little corny, sometimes surprisingly good, and always quotable. That mix is exactly why people still remember them word for word.
Take what you can, give nothing back😜☠️🏴‍☠️ 🏴‍☠️ #TalkLikeAPirateYogis3 ~ Day 4 ☠️⚓ My husband and I are currently at Ojo Caliente in New Mexico at an incredible mineral springs spa. The best place to put up the do not disturb sign and give nothing back 😜... it is sooo relaxing ☺️ thank you so much for the recommendation @rockabetty25 😘😘😘 Wearing @imaginebyastra because her gorgeous clothes make me so happy 🖤🩵💫 🪝🏴‍☠️⚓🖤☠️🏴‍☠️⚓🖤☠️🪝 Arrrrr did ye think the pirates got lost at sea? 😂 We may be a wee bit delayed this year thanks to overloaded calendars, work, real life, and apparently a crew that couldn’t agree which way was NORTH. 🧭🤣 But fear not, mateys, the ship did NOT sink! We found our compass, rounded up the crew, located the rum 🍹😂 and officially sailing October 14-18 🏴‍☠️ This is our THIRD YEAR of pirate yoga madness, and we keep coming back because it’s just too much fun! So dig out yer pirate hats, eye patches, bandanas, boots and questionable pirate accents. Costumes, creativity and silliness are HIGHLY encouraged! 😂🏴‍☠️ ☠️ PIRATE CREW: 🏴‍☠️ @littleislandyogini 🏴‍☠️ @theyinyangme 🏴‍☠️ @sofiagarcia_yoga 🏴‍☠️ @keepridinfitness 💰 THE TREASURE KEEPERS - OUR AMAZING SPONSORS: ⚓ @officialteasintees ⚓️ @petes_choice ⚓ @skin_of_love ⚓ @feetlu_official ⚓ @jefoo_official ☠️ 5 DAYS ON THE HIGH SEAS ☠️ 🪝Day 1 ▪︎ALL ABOARD! ⚓ Any standing/balance pose - Show us yer sea legs! ✔️ 🪝Day 2 ▪︎WALK THE PLANK! 🪵 Any plank or arm balance - Try not to fall overboard! 😂 ✔️ 🪝Day 3 ▪︎SHIVER ME TIMBERS! ☠️ Any twist - Get yerself into a proper pirate knot! ✔️ 🪝Day 4 ▪︎MAN OVERBOARD! 🌊 Any inversion - Apparently somebody found the rum and now the whole ship is upside down. 🤣🍹✔️ 🪝Day 5 ▪︎X MARKS THE SPOT! 🗺️💰 Yogi’s choice - Show us yer greatest treasure! #imaginebyastra #pirates #makingshapes #dallas
