Tomorrow I’m doing a thing. Little girl me would never believe it. I barely can. So honoured @theopenuniversity with special mentions for @thecyclingpodcast @rouleurmagazine @tntsportscycling @bespoke_m and @mazhedleylewis for various parts of this section of the journey. And @makeup.by.belle_ who gave me confidence and belief along so many steps of the last few years. Feeling mushy ❤️
The story of Rāhu and Ketu begins during the distribution of Amṛta after the Samudra Manthana. An Asura named Svarbhānu disguised himself as a Deva and sat among the Devas, hoping to drink the nectar of immortality. But Sūrya Deva and Candra Deva recognised him and revealed his identity. Before the Amṛta could pass through his entire body, Śrī Viṣṇu, in the form of Mohinī, used the Sudarśana Cakra and severed his head. Svarbhānu had already tasted the Amṛta, so his head could no longer die. It became known as Rāhu. In the widely known later form of the story, his headless body became Ketu. Rāhu is the head without a body. He can see, desire and consume, yet he can never experience complete satisfaction. Ketu is the body without a head. He represents separation from ordinary identity, detachment, inward movement and the gradual release of worldly attachment. The story also explains their relationship with Sūrya and Candra. Rāhu repeatedly attempts to obscure them, giving rise to the traditional account of solar and lunar eclipses. But the light is only covered temporarily. It is never destroyed. In Jyotiṣa, Rāhu and Ketu form one axis. One draws us towards experience, ambition and attachment. The other separates us from what no longer carries meaning. One creates hunger. The other asks what remains when that hunger has been exhausted. HU Staff: Kecia Gayle @kecia.kae A mother has shared a beautiful video of the day she officially adopted her baby girl, and she paired it with one of the sweetest messages you’ll read all week. ___________________________________________________ The mother, named Kayla Renee who is Black, adopted a little girl who is white and named Paisleigh. In the emotional clip, the two of them walk into the courtroom hand in hand, both dressed in white. The whole thing feels like a celebration from the first second. Their support system is right there with them, and you can hear everybody greeting baby Paisleigh and getting hyped for the moment to finally become official. ___________________________________________________ It’s easy to tell how long this family has waited for this day, and how her support system showed up to cheer them on. Kayla didn’t keep her feelings to herself, either. She penned a message to her baby girl, letting her heart out in the caption of her video post. She said, “Paisleigh Renee Summers, I’m so happy I finally get to officially be your mommy!” she began. “God knew exactly what He was doing when He brought you into my life.” Then she got to the heart of it. “We may look different on the outside, but the love that made us family is something no one could ever change. You were always meant to be my daughter, and I was always meant to be your mommy.” ___________________________________________________ Click the link in bio for full story 📸 @sincerelykr_
