🎬: Desperate Housewives

Behind the facade of a postcard-perfect subdivision live four women whose lives are anything but idyllic. Klutzy Susan is divorced and the mother of teenage Julie. Lynette is married to Tom and the frazzled mother of four rambunctious children. Bree is the neighbourhood’s Martha Stewart, whose perfection masks major dysfunction. Ex-model Gabrielle, married to handsome and successful Carlos, wants to have her cake and eat it too. Looking down on it all is Mary Alice, who took her own l*fe but comments on the lives of her former neighbours.

🚨🇵🇸🇺🇸 SHE WENT TO DOCUMENT PALESTINIANS HARVESTING THEIR OLIVES. SHE ENDED UP IN A HOSPITAL BED.

American photojournalist Heidi Levine, who has worked for The Washington Post, was hospitalized after being attacked by Israeli settlers while covering the Palestinian olive harvest near Ramallah in the occupied West Bank.

She was wearing protective gear. She was there as a journalist, documenting what was happening. Yet, according to her own account, she was pushed to the ground and repeatedly kicked. Her equipment was also taken.

From her hospital bed, Levine described what happened to her.

➡️ SWIPE THROUGH THIS CAROUSEL to see her interview from the hospital and hear her describe the attack in her own words.

She went there to document the lives of others. Now, the world is watching what happened to her.

JOURNALISM IS NOT A CRIME. DOCUMENTING PALESTINIAN SUFFERING SHOULD NEVER COME AT THIS COST. 🇵🇸

The next generation of the Ambani family took centre stage as Reliance Jio marked a historic milestone in Mumbai on Thursday, October 15, ahead of what is set to become India’s biggest-ever initial public offering (IPO).

Akash Ambani, Isha Ambani and Anant Ambani were part of the next-generation leadership entrusted with taking Jio Platforms public, marking a significant chapter in the business empire founded by their grandfather, Dhirubhai Ambani. Akash and Isha also addressed the IPO announcement event, outlining Jio’s journey and future ambitions.

The upcoming IPO is expected to raise as much as ₹30,213 crore, surpassing Hyundai Motor India’s ₹27,870 crore offering in 2024. Jio has fixed its price band at ₹1,065 to ₹1,119 per share, valuing the company at approximately ₹10.3 lakh crore at the upper end. Public subscription will open on October 21 and close on October 23.

During the event, Isha Ambani shared an interesting story about how Jio’s journey began. She recalled struggling to submit a college assignment because of poor internet connectivity in Mumbai around 2009-10. The experience sparked conversations with her brother Akash about why India lacked the digital connectivity available in Western countries.

Akash, who serves as Jio Platforms’ Managing Director, highlighted the company’s technology capabilities, 5G infrastructure and ambitions to capture opportunities in India’s growing digital economy.

Veteran banker Uday Kotak described the upcoming IPO as a testament to the next generation of Reliance’s leadership, particularly Akash and Isha, while acknowledging Mukesh Ambani’s guidance.

The occasion also carries historical significance. Nearly five decades after Dhirubhai Ambani took Reliance Industries public in 1977, his grandchildren are helping lead another landmark moment for the conglomerate.

With over 53 crore subscribers and a record-breaking public offering approaching, Jio’s IPO represents both a major financial milestone and a generational transition in one of India’s most influential business families.
