My sweet grandma. I love you with every ounce of my soul. We lost you today, but there is nowhere else in the world I would have rather been, than right beside you these last two weeks, holding your hand, during some of your final breaths, as you courageously battled cancer. I know this isn’t a picture of life’s happiest or prettiest moment, but I believe there’s beauty in grief filled moments like this one, because how lucky are we to have experienced a love so strong that we experience grief just as strong. My grandma was one of my best friends. She wasn’t someone I saw only once a year or knew from a distance. We talked nearly everyday. She was one of my biggest supporters. The one I told almost everything to. As cancer slowly took you from us, there was one thing it could never take: your faith. It never wavered. Not for one second. We were singing hymns together, still, on your death bed in the hospital. Your harmony? Still flawless. One of the last things you told me, was, “I don’t want anyone grieving. I know I’m dying but I know where I’m going. I am going straight up to see Jesus.” I won’t remember you for what the cancer did to you. I will remember you for what you did to it. You looked that horrific disease in the eye, and said, “You can take my body, but you can’t take my soul.” Because you knew Who your soul belonged to. I love you. Until the end of time and beyond. And I will miss you everyday.

Story time. Looking back at where I started, I remember how hard it was to read the comments, attend social events and even go for family functions just to feel like my body was everyone else’s public discussion. I reached a point where getting clicked felt uncomfortable. I had started working out 4 years ago, but I was always inconsistent also because of everything that was happening in life. I remember entering the gym which felt nothing less than a nightmare. I was so conscious of the constant judgements and criticism which made me quit working out. It took over my head and confidence. The thought of waking up and working out felt like a punishment. One random day, I texted @aman.liftheavy and told him I need to get back on track. From that very day, I’ve felt like I owed it to me and my body. It was tough, very very tough. But a huge shoutout to @chhabra_19 @get_a_grip.fit for helping me get back on track. We’ve come a long way, we have a longer road ahead. I am very happy when I see my progress today. I had forgotten how it felt to be fitter and happier.
